Product Categories

Categories help you organize your products into logical groups, making it easier for you and your team to find the right product when adding extras to a booking. Instead of scrolling through a flat list, products appear grouped by category.

Creating a category

  1. Go to Products & Services in the sidebar.
  2. Click the Categories tab.
  3. Click New Category.
  4. Enter a name for the category (e.g., "Experiences", "Amenities", "Transport", "Food & Drink").
  5. Optionally upload a category image to visually represent the group.
  6. Click Save.

Suggested category ideas

Here are some common categories that work well for vacation rental hosts:

  • Amenities -- Crib rental, extra linens, towels, high chair.
  • Experiences -- Guided tours, cooking classes, wine tasting.
  • Transport -- Airport transfer, car rental, bike rental.
  • Food & Drink -- Welcome basket, grocery delivery, breakfast package.
  • Services -- Early check-in, late check-out, mid-stay cleaning, laundry service.
  • Equipment -- Beach gear, ski equipment, BBQ supplies.

Reordering categories

You can change the order in which categories appear:

  1. Go to the Categories tab.
  2. Drag categories into the desired order.
  3. The new order is saved automatically.

Categories are displayed in this order when browsing products and when adding products to bookings.

Uploading a category image

A category image gives a visual preview of the product group:

  1. Open the category you want to update.
  2. Click the image area or the Upload Image button.
  3. Select an image file from your device.
  4. Click Save.

Editing and deleting categories

  • To edit a category, open it from the Categories tab, update the name or image, and click Save.
  • To delete a category, open it and click Delete. Products that were in the deleted category will become uncategorized. They are not deleted -- they just lose their grouping.

TIP

Keep category names short and intuitive. Your team needs to find the right product quickly when a guest makes a request, so clarity matters more than creativity.

WARNING

Deleting a category does not delete the products inside it. Those products will still exist and can still be added to bookings -- they will just appear without a category grouping until you reassign them.
